JoeRunsFar Introduction

Aloha and welcome to my ultra running blog!  I am a 40-year old ultra runner, father of two incredible kids, and husband to an amazing woman.  I plan on using this blog to share my experiences and thoughts on all things related to training, racing, and surviving ultra marathons.

As a Naval Officer and licensed professional civil engineer, I tend to err on the analytic side pretty much everything that effects my life. I am a firm believer of the scientific method and find myself gravitating towards training and nutritional guidance that is backed by "science."

I am an experiment of one and look forward to sharing the results of my research in training, racing, and surviving ultra marathons!

  1. I see you've gone with Strava Pro. What makes it worth it to you?

  2. Ray - The main reason is that I enjoy using Strava and would hate to see it go out of business. I guess I consider it more of a charity donation! I don't think it necessarily adds anything to my training, since I use SportTracks software for all of my training analytics.
